What is Fiber Arts Boston?
Fiber Arts Boston Resource and Innovation Center (FABRIC) is a non-profit makerspace and tool library. Our mission is to preserve fiber arts for the future through educational classes, a fiber arts library, and the promotion of fiber artists.
What are Fiber Arts?
Fiber art is a term that encompasses processes that involve manipulating string, fabric, or fibers from plants or animals using various techniques including: knitting, crochet, embroidery, sewing, felting, dyeing, weaving, spinning, and more!
How do I get involved at FABRIC?
FABRIC is open to the public for visits and drop in use during our posted open hours. Check our calendar, our hours vary with our volunteer staff member’s schedules.
FABRIC also offers classes on a range of topics.
Visitors can work in a quiet, focused space and engage with other fiber enthusiasts and artists of various backgrounds. We share space with Shepherd + Maudsleigh Studio and are building community with their members as well.
We offer work space and tools for free drop in use and we have a selection of equipment that is available for use by members- memberships start at $25. See our equipment list for more info.
Our membership options are:
General Membership– $25/month
Access to tool and book lending library, drop in use of equipment such as sewing machines, spinning wheels, etc during open hours as listed on calendar. Ability to rent the longarm and embroidery machine by the hour after completing applicable certification.
Key Member– $125/month
24/7 access on your schedule. All the benefits of a General Membership, plus storage space, and longarm and embroidery machine use for no additional cost after completing applicable certification.
