Intro to Floor Loom Weaving
July 20, 27
August 3, 10, 24
Learn how to set up and weave on a floor loom this summer! This class will introduce a range of projects to create textiles of varying weights, colors, and textures. The aim of this class is to work through weaving several pieces in order to become comfortable with the entire process, and start to discover your personal preferences and style as a weaver.
Projects include a sampler of plain weave and twill patterns, a rag rug tote bag or place mat, and a scarf of your own design! Students may also have time for an additional self-directed project.
Along with the 6 class times, this course includes unlimited studio access for students to work outside of class time. Take time to explore as much as you can. This additional studio time helps you to solidify skills and gain confidence working independently.
All tools and materials supplied to complete sampler, rag rug, and scarf project.
Additional materials provided by students may include specialty yarns and clothing to cut into strips for the rag weaving project. More information about materials will be discussed in the first class.
